Passion I have a wide experience of international hazardous and municipal waste projects funded by different IFIs such as Finnish MFA, EU and WB. “My countries” are especially Middle-East and Balkan, but I have also experience from other countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan and Nepal. How did I become me? After my graduation in the Technical University of Helsinki as M.Sc. Chemical Engineering I have worked with different environmental technology all my professional carrier (approx 40 years). In the beginning my field of expertise was pulp and paper processes and air pollution control technology. In 1989 I joined Outokumpu where I commenced my carrier in hazardous waste treatment technology. We offered complete incineration plants as well as physico-chemical treatment plants and supplied special technical solutions to incineration plants internationally. For a couple of years I was involved in waste water aeration systems as managing director for leading company in its field. In 2000 I took the assignment as Team Leader for a three year hazardous waste project in Alexandria, Egypt. Among the tasks was the construction of a special landfill and the set up of waste management unit within the governorate. After that, as an employee of Finnish Consulting Group, I had a similar project in Albania, which eventually led to two clean-up projects of industrial sites in Albania. In Jordan I had a long lasting project on privatization of country-wide management of medical and hazardous waste. Besides that I have completed assignments within landfill design and waste recycling in several countries. In 2010 I retired from FCG and work currently as freelance expert. The problems I solve I solve problems related to hazardous waste management as well as municipal and medical waste. Clean-up of industrial sites has also become one of my specialties. Within this field I do Feasibility Studies, EIA's, Landfill designs and prepare procurement documents. I can also solve problems related to the institutional aspects of waste management.
