More about this expert:

I'm passionate to develop and implement sustainable built environments globally and to contribute to consulting, project management, capacity building and research activities in this field. The topics may range from urban planning and land use to design, construction and operation of buildings, and infrastructure: energy, water, waste water treatment, waste management and transport including procurement and user participation. I have experience from such initiatives e.g. from Egypt, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Tanzania, Zambia, China, Malaysia and Vietnam outside Europe. I'm currently coordinating the global UN 10YFP Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme. I'm also writing a handbook for UNEP on sustainable building procurement for my own company. I have earlier worked as a Key Account Manager and Principal Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, as a Visiting Professor at University of Salford in the UK, as Technical Director in a water supply project in Cameroon, as a Site Engineer in a Civil Engineering project in Libya, as a Scientific Attaché in the Finnish Embassy in Paris etc. The main challenge often is how to get implementation of new approaches from concepts into reality and from standalone pilots to mainstream activities. I may be contacted in English, French, Finnish or Swedish.
