I’ve worked +20 years in telecom sector (in Nokia Networks, Nokia Siemens Networks, NSN) in making the transition from technology oriented company into solution provider, which gets half of its turn over from services. Making the change from direct customer interface (customer projects) and from service business management (both regional and global service business responsibilities – last role in NSN, Head of Global Implementation Services) point of views have enabled to understand how challenging, but at the same rewarding it is for a company go into services. Currently I’m working in Finpro with the assignment of encouraging and helping Finnish SMEs to expand their offering into services and to take first steps in international services business. The problems I solve Helping SMEs to expand into international B-2-B services starts from definition phase (topics like defining services role in company’s business, identifying service offering and productization it) goes till initiating operative service business abroad (topics like setting up local service units and running global service delivery network to secure seamless service provisioning).
