Ken is the Sustainability Group Manager at Granlund Consulting and is also a PhD researcher at Aalto University. His core focus is on climate change oriented innovation in the built environment. Ken has been with Granlund since 2008 and has almost 15 years experience as a consultant engineer in built environment energy efficiency and sustainability. This experience has been accrued in London, Sydney, Dublin and Helsinki. His main role at Granlund consulting is as the manager of the sustainability team and the core expertise of the team is in environmental certification systems (all kinds of LEED and BREEAM), low carbon construction strategies, carbon footprinting calculations and environmental due diligence. He also plays a role in research and design at Granlund and was a research partner and start up mentor in the Smart Retro project with Demos Helsinki which studied Digital Disruption and Nordic Cities http://smartretro.demoshelsinki.fi/ which ran from 2013 to 2015. Recently Ken has been working on lean development projects with start ups in the areas of indoor positioning and gamification. Ken’s research at Aalto is entitled “going beyond incremental innovation” and the focus areas are system innovation, organisational change and sustainability.
