My expertise is in risk governance, environmental policy and management, and climate adaptation. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Risk and Resilience program jointly with Arctic Futures Initiative. My current research focuses on Arctic risk governance and management. My previous research project in Finland at Aalto University, Department of Built Environment, jointly with Nordic Center of Excellence NORD-STAR focused on climate change adaptation and mitigation trade-offs and synergies in the urban context and land-use. I have also worked as a researcher at the Finnish Forest Research Institute (METLA) and Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE). My previous research at these research institutes focused on regional vulnerability of nature-based tourism and outdoor recreation to climate change, including analyses of tourism destination choice behavior. I hold a doctoral degree in Natural resources and Life sciences (Dr. nat. techn.) and Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Geography. In addition to my native language Finnish, I have professional proficiency in English and German.
